The syllabus, complete course outline, and a grading rubric are provided to students at the beginning of the semester. The rubric will establish the determination of grades, and will vary depending on course selection. Grading is based on the following structure:

Assignment Grades

Assignment grades measure knowledge, interaction, skill building, and progress for each class session. This allows students to build new skills with an interactive, modeled approach and helps to track progress as well as allow the instructor to ascertain pedagogical efficacy.

  • Activity & Guided Practice: 10% of assignment grade
  • Homework: 5% of assignment grade
  • Studio Session & Project: 60% of assignment grade
  • Group Critique: 20% of assignment grade
  • Self-Assessment: 5% of assignment grade

Final Grades

Final grades are a reflection of knowledge retained and gained within the course, as well as all studio work and outside projects, reading, contributions, interaction, self-assessments, critiques, file reviews, exams and quizzes. They are determined as follows:

  • Practice & Participation: 25% of final grade
  • Quizzes & Exams: 15% of final grade
  • Projects: 40% of final grade
  • Homework Assignments: 20% of final grade
